How to Answer 5 Difficult Interview Questions

I’ve been on the job hunt for over a year and during this time, it’s been a huge learning experience. I’ve learned many networking tricks, interview tricks and follow up tricks while in school, but when it’s been my full-time job to actually find a full-time job, there’s so much more to learn!

My top suggestion when on the job hunt: don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help!
In this post, let’s discuss how to give the best answer to 5 difficult interview questions.
1) Tell me about yourself: In this statement, employers are looking for authenticity. Keep in mind the type of job and company you’re applying for. So, keep your story with the company culture in mind.
2) What are your salary requirements? Ahh, this question already makes me feel so awkward, but you must get rid of this feeling ASAP. Be ready to discuss numbers by researching the average salary for the position and think about your experience and what you can immediately do to help the company. Being prepared shows your potential employer that you’ve done your due diligence.
3) What’s your greatest weakness? In my opinion, employers are looking to see if you can answer this question honestly and they look for self-reflection. The best way to answer this question is to briefly state a situation and focus on what you’ve done to turn that weakness into a strength. Focus on the positives!
4) What questions do you have? Whatever you do, never, ever say “no questions”. This shows that you have come to the interview unprepared. This is the chance for you to shine and impress your future employer. Asking questions about the conversation shows active listening and that you’re prepared. Be prepared with questions about the organization’s culture, bring up interesting articles that relates to the company, etc.
5) Where do you see yourself in five years? Again, honesty is key here, but make your answer relevant to the organization. Try an answer that shows you’ve done some self-reflection and you’ve come to the realization of the type of industry you see yourself in for the long run.
What are some of the challenging interview questions you’ve received and how did you answer them?
