What does success look like in your mind?

Lately I’ve been feeling very inspired.

I’ve gone through many ups and downs and various changes of seasons and I finally feel like I’m in an incredible space, especially when thinking about mindfulness. I’m six months away from completing my MBA, a longtime goal, great mentors and a promising career path, newfound love and a strong family life.

Now, goals. I have many goals that scare me because they seem unattainable. One of those goals entails creating a tribe of individuals, who can push each other to create spaces and new thoughts to help make my dreams a reality. I want to help create a space where people can succeed and thrive. And most importantly, create a culture of success.

I’ve been thinking about what success is and what it feels like and how I define it and how my definition of success has changed over the last 10 years? The truth is, success changes with every season that I’m in. With each season of my life, I define a new feeling of success.

Success at one point was becoming a college graduate who was able to obtain her goal of working for a sports team and helping to create memories. At another point it was working for a nonprofit organization and changing the lives of young women by showing them there’s more to life than their immediate surroundings. Another was to sell $100M in real estate. With all these experiences and more, I was able to succeed at some and fail but fail forward at others.

Today, my vision of success is doing what you’re meant to do on this earth and it brings you joy. Success to me is also doing what you love and empowering others to do the same. Joy, along with faith, love and family are stepping stones to my success. I’ve realized lately that I’ve been put on this earth to do something that’s bigger than me. Do I know exactly what it is? Do I know exactly how I’m going to achieve it?

Nope.

It’s a feeling greater than myself and I’m going along with the plan God has for me to continue to move forward.

Without failure, there is no success.

Don’t be afraid to fail because you never know where failure can lead to you. If you’ve never failed in life, then that means you’re just not taking a big enough swing. Don’t be afraid to fail but make sure you fail forward. Learn from your experience and learn from that failure and make changes and go towards your goal again.
